Daniel D. Deane
PT, DPT, CSM – Founder & President
Dr. Daniel D. Deane was born May 15, 1969, just outside of Washington D.C. in the suburbs of Adelphi, Maryland where he became a 4 year letter winner and earned McDonalds All-American honors while playing Basketball at High Point High School located in Beltsville, MD.
Highly recruited by the nations top basketball programs, Daniel signed a scholarship to attend a little known Division I Men’s Basketball program in Fairfax, VA, named George Mason University. While there, Daniel and his teammates won the schools first NCAA tournament bid into the field of 64 in March of 1989. Although they would go on to lose in the first round to the Indiana Hoosiers coached by Bobby Knight, Daniel’s team would finish the season a very respectful 21-9. His teams amassed a cumulative winning percentage of .700% during his 4 years of competition and he was named first team Academic All-American in the Colonial Athletic Association in the spring of 1990. In 2006, fifteen years removed from the program, the George Mason Patriots Basketball team would go on their historic NCAA tournament run and first ever Final Four appearance, losing to the eventual Champion Florida Gators.
Upon graduating from GMU in the Spring of 1992 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Physical Education, Daniel was accepted into the Masters Program in Physical Therapy at the University of Maryland at Baltimore in the Summer of 1993. While there, Daniel focused his studies towards the areas of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Daniel graduated with Honors in the Spring of 1996 with both a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Physical Therapy.
Following 2 years of service at a Physical Therapy center near his home in Bowie, MD, Daniel altered his career path drastically, moving to the Atlanta, GA area where he took a job as a Clinical Director just two years removed from his studies. It didn’t take long there for Daniel to aspire towards opening a clinic of his own and so the Per4mance Golf Medical & Sports Clinic was born in the fall of 2000. Here, golfers of all skill levels and handicaps, could have their golf swings analyzed, as well as a complete physical analysis performed, to help determine problems which may be hindering their performance on the golf links.
In 2002, Daniel sold the rights to his practice and moved to Tampa, Florida where he began a small consulting company, Per4mance Rehab & Consulting. The company was developed to assist various health care practices throughout the state, enhance their profitability through training in areas such as: Strategic Marketing, Budget/Analysis, Proper Hiring and Billing/Coding strategies. Daniel continues his consulting of select practices on a part time basis as time allows even today.
Following his relocation to Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 2003, Dr. Deane founded the ‘Spine Institute’ at South Florida Physical Therapy in the spring of 2004. Over the past 8 years in practice, his clinics have developed a stellar reputation within the communities of North Miami Beach, Hollywood, Ft Lauderdale, Sunrise and Pompano Beach. Dr. Deane’s continued educational experiences have allowed him to be fortunate enough to have studied under the two most prominent “Masterminds” in the art of Manual Therapy, Dr. Phillip Greenman and Dr. James Dunning, receiving Certifications in Manual and Spinal Manipulative Therapy from both Michigan State University and the Spinal Manipulation Institute respectively. With his continued knowledge and growth a must, Dr. Deane completed his Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy at Arcadia University in Glenside, PA in August of 2012.
During his personal life, Daniel enjoys hobby’s that include: Beach Volleyball, Jet Skiing, Boating/Fishing, Golfing, Jujitsu/Kick Boxing, Bike Riding, Chess, and Texas Hold’em. He currently resides in the city of Fort Lauderdale, where he has lived over the past 10 years.

Matthew Matlock, PTA (Regional Director)
Matthew was born on June 21, 1974 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He grew up in a suburban area of Hollywood Florida and was an active member of the track and field team @ South Broward High School where he graduated in 1992. Matthew finished 3rd overall in States in both the 200 and 400 meters.
Shortly thereafter, Matthew attended Broward College where he received his Physical Therapy Assistants Degree graduating with honors in 1996. Matthew worked at the Kings Academy rehabilitation center in West Palm Beach Florida for several years following his graduation, focusing on sport specific training and closed chain exercises while working closely with athletic trainers and along the side of Sports Physiatrists and Physical Therapists. While there, he helped develop closed chain sport specific exercise programs for the Kings Academy Baseball and Soccer teams.
He began working shortly thereafter with Physiotherapy Associates in Plantation Florida and eventually joined forces with South Florida Physical Therapy in the Summer of 2006 where he has worked his way toward becoming the Regional Director overseeing all 5 clinic locations.
Matthew was married in June of 2003 and has two children (Boys) ages 7 and 3. His interests include kickboxing and jiu-jitsu as well as playing poker. His primary goals are attaining his black belt by 2012 and someday playing in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas.
Jimmy Sapp, PTA, LMT
Jimmy was born on January 3, 1971 in Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1992 with Bachelor Degrees in both Criminal Justice and Exercise Physiology.
Since that time, Jimmy has continued to further his educational goals by becoming both a Licensed Massage Therapist and Physical Therapy Assistant upon graduating from Broward College in the Spring of 2011.
Jimmy has become an integral part of our health care team at South Florida Physical Therapy over the past 3 years and demonstrates a vast knowledge in the areas of Sports Medicine and Manual Manipulative Medicine.
His current plans are with pursuing a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, with anticipated acceptance into the program at Nova Southeastern University in the Spring of 2012.
Eduardo Sotolongo, PTA, LMT
Eduardo was born in Havana, Cuba on September 15, 1975. In the summer of 1994 he graduated from High School, obtaining a technical degree in industrial chemistry. He began working in the pharmaceutical industry until the owner of the company moved to Venezuela in May 2004. Eduardo soon thereafter relocated to the United States where he held odd jobs until working for a Chiropractor in South Miami from the Fall of 2007-2009. In 2010, he began his professional career in Massage Therapy at Dade Medical College graduating with an associates degree in 2011.
After graduating from DMC, Eduardo worked with various chiropractors and medical doctors specializing in auto accidents and slip and fall injuries. In 2012 he relocated to Boca Raton and began with Dr. Daniel Deane, PT at South Florida Physical Therapy Associates as LMT/Technician.
Eduardo entered the Physical Therapy Assistant program at DMC in the fall of 2013 and completed the program in the Summer of 2015 obtaining his PTA license in November of 2015. Eduardo has become an Integral part of the health care team at South Florida Physical Therapy over the past 6 months and demonstrates vast knowledge beyond his years in the areas of: Manual Therapy, Modality application, Therapeutic Exercises and Neuro-Muscular Reeducation principles.
Isaac Aguilar, PTA, LMT
Isaac was born in Camaguey, Cuba on December 24, 1984. In the summer of 2000, his family moved to beautiful Miami Beach, Florida where he proceeded to graduate High School from Miami Beach Senior High in the Spring of 2003.
In 2004, Isaac began his professional passion for Massage Therapy at The Praxis Institute. While attending TPI, he chose the Advanced Massage Therapy curriculum where he would intensely study the theory of rehabilitative massage to include: therapeutic techniques, exercise, lymphatic drainage, sports massage, and neuromuscular rehabilitation.
Shortly after graduating from TPI in the fall of 2006, Isaac began working in a variety of settings to include: Hotels, Chiropractic and Pain Management offices as well as Commercial Massage establishments such as: Massage Envy, etc… It is while working at these establishments that Isaac became motivated towards furthering his education ultimately, beginning the Physical Therapy Assistant program at the Dade Medical College in 2013.
Isaac completed the Physical Therapy Assistant program at DMC, in the Spring of 2015 and began working with Dr. Daniel Deane, PT, CMS at South Florida Physical Therapy Associates in the Fall of 2015 where he currently specializes in Spine and Extremity Post Op Rehabilitation.
Eddy Montalvan, PTA, LMT
Eddy was born in January 1981 in Havana, Cuba. As a kid he was always involved in sports activities especially baseball. At the age of 15, he started piano classes and later changed to percussion instruments as well. Eddy became a talented musician shortly thereafter and started playing in different bands and groups while still in Cuba where he would have the opportunity to travel around the world and show his talent.
In the summer of 2006, he moved to Miami, Florida where he would begin a lifelong dream of having a career in the medical field. First, he attended the Beauty Schools of America in Hialeah, FL and after graduation, in the Fall of 2008, began working as an LMT in the medi-spa environment at the Lowe’s Hotel and Canyon Ranch Hotel & Spa, both of which are located in Miami Beach Fl. After 2 years in the field, he was contacted by BSA and offered an instructors position which he accepted and began teaching with the school for upwards of 3 years. While teaching, he was attending Keiser University at nights to become a Physical Therapy Assistant.
In April of 2012, he achieved his goal and graduated as a Physical Therapy Assistant. Since that time, he has been working as a PTA in different settings throughout Dade and Broward counties. In January of 2016, Eddy became a crucial member of the staff at South Florida Physical Therapy Associates where he sees a variety of Post Operative surgical cases both in office and in home.
Eddy’s goal is to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy and continue to grow as a Physical Therapist. He prides himself on his active lifestyle and demonstrates great passion for health and wellness while assisting with patient care at South Florida Physical Therapy.
Amber Teed, PTA, LMT
Amber was born on June 24, 1981 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. She attended Stranahan High School in Ft. Lauderdale where she participated in the JROTC Marine program volunteering for various causes including Habitat for Humanity.
Amber has always had an interest in medicine, primarily in the field of alternative medicine. Amber enrolled at the American Institute of Massage in June 2002. While there, she became certified in Postural Analysis, Prenatal/Infant massage, Reiki Level 2, Tibetan Bowl healing and expanded her area of expertise becoming a certified Doula. She graduated in the Fall of 2004.
In June of 2009, Amber received her Physical Therapy Assistants Degree from Broward College and began working in the Home Health Care arena in the neighboring Pompano Beach Florida area. She has been a valuable asset to the South Florida Physical Therapy team since that time and is now the Director of the Community Home Health Program (CHHP).
Jorge Iglesias, PTA, LMT
Jorge was born in a small New Jersey township on August 19, 1982. In the summer of 1985, his family relocated to the Miami, FL area. He proceeded to graduate High School from the Florida International Academy in 2000.
In 2002, he began his professional passion in Massage Therapy at The National School of Technology (NST). While attending NST, he chose the Advanced Massage Therapy curriculum where he would learn about rehabilitative massage and therapeutic techniques and exercise.
Shortly after graduating from NST, Jorge began working with Dr. Maria Del Campillo at TLC Chiropractic in Doral, FL. It is there that he became motivated to continue his education and begin the Certified Chiropractic Physician Assistant (CCPA) program while at the Cleveland Chiropractic College in 2004.
Jorge completed the Physical Therapy Assistant program at Keiser University in the Spring of 2012 and is now heading up the ‘Research Branch’ for colleague continuing education studies at South Florida Physical Therapy. Jorge’s future goals are targeted dead ahead toward achieving his Doctorate in Physical Therapy, as he will strongly pursue the program at Nova Southeastern University.
Jorge prides himself on his active lifestyle and demonstrates his passion for health and wellness while assisting with patient care at South Florida Physical Therapy’s Pompano Beach location.
Lauri Spring, RN (Director of Marketing)
Lauri Spring was born on March 23, 1977 in Pittsburgh, PA. She attended Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania earning a Bachelors Degree in Marketing in the Spring of 2000. Lauri was extremely active in various activities while attending Slippery Rock University including the University Theater Department, Slippery Rock Marketing Club as well as President of Alpha xi Delta Sorority.
After graduation, Lauri went on to spend the Summer of 2000 interning in marketing and sales at The Radisson Resort on Sand Key in Clearwater, Florida. After the completion of her internship, she took a position as a Marketing Executive at the Marriott Koolina Beach Club in Honolulu, Hawaii. Lauri spent 2 successful years with Marriott in Hawaii before being promoted and transferred to the new Marriott Grand Chateau property in Las Vegas, Nevada. After 5 exciting years working in sales and marketing with Marriott, Lauri was ready for a new challenges taking a marketing and business development position with Nationally renowned Nightingale Healthcare (NH). While Lauri excelled with her position at NH, she soon learned that her true calling would to be in hospital based patient care.
Lauri graduated from the program at Keiser University where she earned her 2nd degree as an RN (Registered Nurse) in the Spring of 2011. She now attends graduate school part -time with aspirations of earning her Masters Degree as a Nurse Anesthetist. In January of 2009, Lauri joined the South Florida Physical Therapy team as the Director of Marketing where she conducts programs that infuse the South Florida Physical Therapy name to generate continued promotion of our mission within the community.
